Meditation in Thailand 1997

I have the full ordination as a Buddhist monk after about six months at Wat Pah Baan, with the help of some Thai supporters, an American monk Tan Dick, and the beloved senior English monk, Ajahn Panyavaddho who recently died. Three-hundred monks from monasteries in Thailand came to his funeral.
Acharn Maha Boowa would not allow me to teach at Wat Pah Ban That after my ordination stay - "Too many Westerners," the difficulty for him, becausethe language barrier, and because of his advanced age - so I was shipped a strict "boot camp" in a wat, the abbot of a taskmaster just across the Mekong River and Laos. That was good because Acharn Maha Boowa's wat was simply too busy for me. But there was also a downside - I was now 400 kilometers from Janet!
Fifteen to twenty monks inhabited, which was usually in the vicinity of Laos, the number

With Thailand as your hub in Southeast Asia

Sooner or later, you have to visit Southeast Asia if you enjoy the world. There are simply too many unique attractions and fascinating cultural aspect not to do. If you go, you can always difficult on a bit, then taken to Thailand as a hub.

Asia is a fascinating area that have seen you have to believe it. From the towers of Angkor Wat, the lightening shows off the coast of Sihanoukville in Cambodia, there is something for everyone. To top off the field as a Top destination, a currency problem resulted in the late 1990s in Southeast Asia that a very cheap trip. Yes, even with the dollar is to beat up.

There's only one hang up when it comes to traveling in this area. Simply put, it is difficult from here to there. The quality, quantity and frequency of transport systems in the countries varies quite dramatically. Consider allowing the contrast between the two countries, a long border - Thailand and Cambodia.

> Thailand's act together. There are many buses, trams and trains in the bustling metropolis of Bangkok. You can also overnight trains from the city to most destinations in the country. If you have a little money to spare, you can fly in the rule of the city, to provide greater destination in the country, as Chang Mai, for $ 40 to $ 80 When you are ready to head to another country in the region, international flights from Bangkok are also plentiful and inexpensive.

Cambodia is in sharpUnlike Thailand. In most cases, the use of the term "streets" at issue. Things are rough. A large part of the northern region of the country is very difficult to access. In fact, one of the most popular ways is in the whole country, if possible, by ferry. It is strongly recommended that you use this mode when the transport direction of Angkor Wat, or your kidneys and back is an absolute mess to use. Flying to Cambodia in the domestic and international flights is almost impossibleare rare and very expensive.

Lest you think I'm wrong to criticize Cambodia, it should be noted that there is a different reason for the problems in the infrastructure of the country. The Khmer Rouge, of course. This group led by Pol Pot tried to return the land to an agricultural society. Besides killing nearly one third of the population has the infrastructure of a beating.

This contrast may seem extreme, but it can be found in other countries. Laos is wonderful, but very rural.Indonesia is also cheaper than Cambodia and Thailand, but travel within the country can be physically exhausting. The contrasts go on and on.

If you travel to Southeast Asia, you will need a place to make your base. Thailand is an excellent choice on my travels in the region. It is very cheap, but the infrastructure is excellent. It just makes a great place to start exploring the region.
