Bangkok is the largest and most populous city in Thailand. It is also the capital of Thailand. It used to be known as Krung Thep in Thai. Bangkok is located on the east bank of the Chao Phraya River.
The original name of Krung Thep in operation for more than two centuries. The name of Bangkok is used for foreigners and visitors, and is limited only to a particular district of the city.
There are three royal palaces in Bangkok. There are many historical placesin and around the city. It was the capital of two kingdoms, namely, Krung Thep, and for a short time, Thorn Buri. The reclining Buddha, Temple of the giant golden Buddha statues are located on the banks of the historic Chao Phraya River.
Bangkok has always been an attraction for tourists, and this is the reason a lot of foreigners are found to have settled in this beautiful city. Many of them have found a job and then there are still others have started their own businesses to earn aLivelihood. There are still others who are of expensive Western countries come to spend their retirement living for a cheap, easy and comfortable life in this hospitable city.
The nightlife offers a varied program of entertainment for the people and is considered one of the main attractions of Bangkok. There are clubs and cafes for the rich, bars and pubs for those on a budget. A street in Phra Nakhon district, as is known Khao San Road, is considered the first internationalStreet, filled with all sorts of people from different parts of the world can be seen.
Former Bangkok used to be a network of canals, as khlongs have known, and these were used by people to transport them from one place to another. Now most channels are converted into streets. However, there are still a few channels, see, but unfortunately most of them are not clean.
